Project Title:
Mission Possible: Neighbor Intake Fundamentals
My Role: Instructional Designer & eLearning Developer
Tools Used in Development: Lectora, Camtasia, Audacity, Canva
Time in Development: 1 month
Client: Cooperstown Food Pantry
Challenge: After years of using paper forms, the Cooperstown Food Pantry implemented Neighbor Intake, a computer system to track client visits and maintain records. Many of the volunteer workers at the Pantry are retirees who are uncomfortable using new computer systems. The Director and Operations Manager’s workflows were regularly interrupted to assist volunteers in navigating the system.
Solution: In addition to an in-person training, this eLearning course was developed for volunteers who are more computer-adept. It provides a comprehensive overview through videos, images, and descriptions. Volunteers who choose this option have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding through a series of practical questions. This option is also available as a review for anyone who completes the in-person training.
Results: There is a projected 50% increase to volunteer workers’ competency in using the computer system as well as a 60% reduction to the workflow of the Director and Operations Manager.
